I’ll have that interview later today or early tomorrow on Gay Star News with a little teaser to it here. One of the people lighting the torch was Dustin Lance Black who I’ve interviewed several times over the years – including the night he won the Oscar for Milk – and we chatted a bit after the event and the Uprising of Love group he has co-founded. There was an Uprising of Love event during which involved a symbolic torch lighting ceremony signifying that the fire will continue burning after the Sochi Olympics until LGBT safety and dignity and human rights everywhere is achieved. Then on Sunday, I went straight from an LA chapter of the National Gay & Lesbian Journalists board meeting to an event in West Hollywood. On Saturday, I drove out to Malibu to attend a reception for Democratic Congressman Eliot Engel from New York (I’ll have a full write-up tomorrow) and I got to meet the new GLAAD president Sarah Kate Ellis who I was quite impressive and nice to chat with. This weekend, however, has been one worth giving up goofing off in order to schmooze and cruise for news. I try not to do too much work on the weekend and often have my weekend content done ahead of time so I can spend time with family and friends and do some goofing off.
